30 Million Illegal Immigrants Already in U.S.

New York, NY  -- While federal government officials insist that only 11-12 million illegal immigrants currently live in the United States, a controversial new book asserts that the true number is closer to 30 million. “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders”  -- written by Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D. -- documents the flaws in the federal government's estimates and offers a revised count of illegals on U.S. soil.

Besides basing their estimates on flawed data, federal officials prefer a deliberate undercount that obscures the extent of the illegal immigration crisis, claim Gilchrist and Corsi. Their book “Minutemen” reveals that when the government's flawed assumptions are corrected, and when groups such as the children of illegal immigrants and recipients of past amnesty programs are included in the count, the estimated number of people residing in the United States due to illegal immigration soars to approximately 30 million, or one-tenth of the entire U.S. population.

“Even defenders of the 'official' estimate of 12 million illegal immigrants acknowledge that it is flawed, but the magnitude of the flaw is greater than anyone in Washington DC is willing to admit,” notes Gilchrist, who founded the volunteer, multi-ethnic Minuteman Project to demonstrate that America’s borders could be successfully guarded.

“This month the U.S. Senate refused to approve the funds necessary to construct the same border fence that it authorized in May,” adds Gilchrist. “Clearly the federal government does not want to close our nation's open borders, so why should we believe that it is being honest in estimating the number of illegal immigrants already in the country? Overseas parole

Definition:
Authorized at an USCIS District or suboffice while the alien is still overseas; designed to constitute long-term admission to the United States. In recent years, most of the aliens USCIS has processed through overseas parole have arrived under special legislation or international migration agreements.

Advance parole

Definition:
Authorized at an USCIS District office in advance of alien’s arrival; may be issued to aliens residing in the United States in other than lawful permanent resident status who have an unexpected need to travel and return, and whose conditions of stay do not otherwise allow for readmission to the United States if they depart.

Files Control Office

Definition:
An USCIS field office--either a district (including USCIS overseas offices) or a suboffice of that district--where alien case files are maintained and controlled.
